Our Laboratory is accredited according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard, and its scope of accreditation includes both sampling and analysis of Legionella in water, guaranteeing maximum reliability in the analysis and detection of Legionella.

What is Legionella and why is its control important?

Legionella is a bacteria that can proliferate in hot and cold water systems in buildings or other systems that require water to function, causing legionellosis, a serious respiratory disease, which can occur sporadically or in the form of epidemic outbreaks that can affect groups of people in the community.

If the facility has a system that produces aerosols, water droplets containing the bacteria can be inhaled and cause legionellosis in specific risk groups.

Its control is mandatory as established in RD 487/2022 (and RD 614/2024, which modifies it), and the responsibility falls on the owners of the facilities.
