The Ematsa laboratory has been accredited according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard by the National Accreditation Body, ENAC, since 1998.
The UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard is an international standard that establishes the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. The main objective of this standard is to define technical and administrative criteria for the development of quality management systems in laboratories.
The main aspects covered by the standard are: impartiality, confidentiality, organizational structure, resource requirements (personnel, facilities, equipment), process requirements (methods, validation, measurement uncertainty, quality assurance) and management system requirements.
Accreditation according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard demonstrates the technical competence of the laboratory and guarantees the reliability of the test or calibration results.
In Spain, the National Accreditation Agency (ENAC) is the only body that can accredit laboratories according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard
To find out if a Laboratory is accredited by ENAC according to UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025, you can consult the ENAC website (www.enac.es) directly and use the accredited entity search engine or request the laboratory’s current ENAC accreditation certificate, which must include the accreditation number. Each laboratory must also have its specific scope of accreditation, which details the tests and activities for which it is accredited.
For the administration, ENAC has a Guide to Rules for Contracting that indicates how to carry out tender procedures taking into account certification.
